Hey everybody! Hope you have enjoyed the sunshine today. Since the weather was nice, I decided to make a garden sign from scrap wood.
- scrap piece of wood
- spray primer
- indoor/ outdoor spray paint
- stencil brush
- paint brush
I think this is pretty self explanatory. I looked in the garage found some scrap wood and sprayed it with primer. Once the wood was dry, I sprayed it with a nice yellow spray paint. This was all I had on hand. Any color you have would work.
While the first coat dried I made a stencil using my cricut and stencil vinyl. There are so many cute ones that you can buy online or at your local craft store.
Once I was done I checked on the wood and saw it needed another coat of paint.
Now that the paint is dry it's time to stencil the sign. To do this I like to use black chalk paint and a stencil brush to apply light coats of paint. Once dry I carefully peeled off my stencil and admired my cute little garden sign. While admiring it I decided to distress it, because it's going outside. To do this I used medium grit sandpaper. After I was done I applied some poly acrylic to the front and back side of the sign using a paint brush.
To add some charm you can use eyelets and craft wire to can hang it up. Another idea is to make a stake and attach it to the back of the sign. Either way your sign will be a beautiful addition to your garden.
